Christmas in a New Home

In all of my life I've never celebrated a Christmas outside of the US.  That statement is no longer true for me.  This year my husband and I celebrated for the first time in our new home...Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  Overall it has been an amazing experience!

We had friends that were scheduled to come and visit us for the holidays with the arrival date being Friday, 23 December.  Due to a series of unfortunate misadventures, they did not arrive until Christmas morning.  They were definitely a nice Christmas present to receive!!  We have lots of things to do and places to see while they are here.

Our first Christmas in our new home was, as we expected, very different.  Not only was it very warm outside but we were without our family.  This made me even more grateful for having our friends here.  They brought with them a feeling of home.  The upside to living in Malaysia is that Christmas is widely celebrated here so there were visions of Christmas everywhere!  It did seem weird to see all of the decorations out knowing that there would be no cool weather and absolutely no chance of snow!

Most of the day was spent doing nothing.  Some of our visitors needed rest so we let them sleep.  We did get to have a real Christmas dinner with some friends I have made here in KL.  The dinner was fantastic and the company even better!  I was able to see my past with my present and even meet some new people.  The spirit of Christmas was completely alive and well!

Christmas is over now and we are all looking forward to spending good time together over the next week and a half.  Hopefully we will be able to keep from killing each other!!  =)  The New Year is coming and I am looking forward to it.  I have a lot of amazing experiences to look forward to and my life will be all the more richer for them!

See you next post!!
